Members were encouraged to take action on bullying by making a pledge and hold a pledge party to say no to bullying and yes to friendship.
Kidscape
This was a tremendously popular project with Brownie and Rainbow groups and over 26,159 members took part and made 21,892 pledges to 'Say No to Bullying'. 11,207 girls held friendship parties to raise awareness of how to 'Say No to Bullying'.
'The 1st Dalkeith Rainbows in Midlothian decided to change the world through the Kidscape project,' says their Leader, Vicky Featherstone. 'The Rainbows really enjoyed the project and gave it their all. They learned about 'Yell, Run, Tell' and loved shouting 'NO!' as loud as they could and, of course, they all tried to be louder than the rainbow before them!'
'As a unit we took part in six activities (Fallen Leaf, 'Yell, Run,Tell', Friendship songs, friendship quilt and make a rainbow) from the Kidscape programme. I was pleased to see that the girls seemed genuinely interested in the meaning behind the activities. I reckon the girls took away a great message of friendship from the project and I hope they carry it forward with them.'
