The British Red Cross produced a tremendous eight modules activity pack suitable for girls of Brownie age upwards.

The Power of Humanity

4,991 members took part in The Power of Humanity and became Humanitarian Citizens by learning skills that save lives such as first aid and communication. 4,033 learned about disasters around the world and the vital role the Red Cross plays in these emergencies. In addition 1,515 members raised £2,045 for the British Red Cross.

The Power of Humanity challenge was one of two projects chosen by the girls and Leaders at the 1st Bromborough Guides in the Wirral. 'We were excited by the resource, as it looked different to anything we had done before, well planned, and incorporated some valuable life skills,' said their excited Leader. 'After weeks of hard work, my 30 guides became Humanitarian Citizens and gained their First Aid and Changing the World badges.'

Leader Tricia Hood was pleased with the activity pack, 'Our Guides had a good time on the Red Cross Humanities project Starting on Module one, two, three and four. We finished at the County campsite, which we pretended was a disaster zone. Patrols had to build a shelter from any thing they can find, along with two bin liners, cardboard and some string for each patrol.  They all made different types of shelters using their own imaginations.'
