How long does it take?
To learn about, plan and run your Barnardo’s BIS will take a minimum of five months but you can keep going so you can make even more profits from your business. It can take just a few seconds to sign the petition for the End Child Poverty campaign or you can spend more time on this by promoting the campaign and taking part in the activity or quiz.
Do we have to apply for a loan?
No. You may decide to gather your own funds or have a sponsor.
When do we apply for a loan?
The timings are:
- Deadline for 1st round of Barnardo’s BIS applications is 14 November 2008.
- Deadline for 2nd round of Barnardo’s BIS applications is 27 February 2009.
- Deadline for 3rd round of Barnardo’s BIS Applications is 8 May 2009.
What if we don’t make enough to repay our loan?
We have every confidence that you will succeed in your business if you are chosen to receive a loan for the Barnardo’s BIS. There is a small risk you may not make enough to repay the loan. We ask that you guarantee to pay back the loan to Barnardo’s by holding some fundraising activities. You can plan for this possibility before you start your business and we can help by providing fundraising ideas and help.
