Help

As a Leader, do I need to know a lot about asthma before choosing this project?

No, there are information sheets about asthma, it's treatments and triggers enclosed in the pack which gives you all the information you should need about asthma and the work of Asthma UK.

Are all the activities suitable for girls with asthma?

All the activities suggested should be safe for girls with asthma. However if any members with asthma start to feel asthma symptoms (breathlessness, wheeze, coughing), suggest they step out of the activity, take their blue reliever inhaler and rejoin the activity when they are feeling better.

Does every girl need to raise money to take part?

All girls can take part in the activities and fundraising, but only those raising £2 for Asthma UK will be awarded an Asthma Trigger Happy badge.

Where will the money we raise go?

Money raised will help Asthma UK to send children on special Kick Asthma educational holidays. These holidays are for children whose lives are seriously affected by their asthma. Educational sessions on the holidays help children to understand their asthma and their treatments and learn how to control it better. The holidays help to boost children’s confidence and give them the opportunity to have new experiences in a safe environment.

Did that answer your question?

If not, take a look at the Girlguiding UK: Changing the World forum. As well as a thread for each charity/project, you'll find general help threads and tips/advice. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, post a new topic and let other Leaders answer your question.

For further information, please feel free to email Asthma UK. You can also visit the Asthma UK website or the Kick Asthma website for children and young people.
