With a song and a dance
6th Penkridge Brownies have made the most of their Changing the World project to indulge in some of their favourite activities.
So far, the girls have taken part in three all-singing, all-dancing events to raise funds for Water Aid, and have more planned.
For their first event they hosted a line dancing evening for parents. Most of the girls and their parents took part and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
The second was the Penkridge Christmas Fayre street market where the girls helped at a stall and sang Water Aid songs. The Member of Parliament for Stafford, David Kidney, joined the girls in their singing.
The third event was a WaterAid quiz evening with yet more singing! There was a lot of competition between parents and Brownies and at the end of the evening some parents joined with Brownies on stage to sing the final song.
As part of their project, the unit also received a talk from Matthew Wellsbury from Integrated Water Services who explained the water cycle and tap water treatment. Brownies filtered dirty water through special syringes to give an idea of the filtration process. They also tasted different types of water and Matthew brought along and explained the use of a standpipe so that the Brownies could see what their fundraising efforts could go towards purchasing.
