What did you enjoy about being in the Brownies?
Heidi: I think it was nice just socialising with girls of your own age and learning different stuff like First Aid. It was just nice doing things with others girls other than school.
Keisha: Yeah it was more of the interaction than anything, the bonding and it’s really important when you are younger to interact with kids your age because then you learn a lot about yourself.
Heidi: I loved the uniform as well. I was excited about getting it that was the big thing for me!
Keisha: I think I had the culottes.
Heidi: I remember getting the badges, my mum couldn’t sew so my Dad would have to sew the new badges on for me!
All: Ahhh!
Keisha: I really wanted to get to the Girl Guides but I didn’t because I couldn’t arrange a time. |

Keisha: I think it’s a bit of both really. I think when you are a girl you have other things than you can use but I also think it depends on what you are doing. If you are in a band, boy bands normally get it a lot easier; girl bands don’t tend to get girl groupies, hanging around, whereas guys do. When you do see successful female act, they tend to put in more work. We know that we have really worked to fill that stadium. It also has a lot to do with being in the right place at the right time.
Amelle: It’s about working hard as well and just really being determined and not letting yourself get pushed back. You will get criticised all the way, just take it all on board and just make sure you keep going, don’t give up, you will get there in the end. |
