Brownies, why not take part in our book club? Each month, we review a
book. Sometimes they are new books and
sometimes they are old classics that you'll
find in your school library. Read them and

Why the Whales Came
by Michael Morpurgo
Why the Whales Came is a story full of mystery and suspense. It is set on the Isles of Scilly during the First World War and tells the story of two children, Gracie and Daniel.
The friends have been told to stay away from the mad Birdman and the cursed Samson Island. But should they believe all they have been told?
Anna, the Brownie Book Club Editor, thinks
This book is a real page turner. I couldn't wait to find out what happened at the end. Younger Brownies might find some of the words a bit hard but it's well worth the effort. It made me feel scared, surprised and glad!

Chloe liked it! She rated
This book is really exciting! I like the part where Grace and Daniel were trapped on Samson Island. I also love this book because I love whales. I would recommend older Brownies to read it!
