The Spiderwick Chronicles

The Spiderwick Chronicles
by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black.

When her great-uncle Arthur dies, Helen Grace and her three children, Jared, Simon and Mallory take over his rambling Spiderwick Estate. Whilst looking around the house for fun things to do in the upstairs attic, nine-year-old Jared finds a book called 'Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You'. Jared reads the book, and discovers that he now needs to keep the book safe, or he could be in big trouble! With the help of house brownie named Thimbletack to help him along, as well as his brother and sister, they take on a world of marvellous creatures!

Hannah, the Brownie Book Club Editor thinks this...

I love reading books and then finding out that they will be turned into films! The Spiderwick Chronicles is a book that they have turned into a film. I always think that the best thing to do is read the book and then see the film, so that you make up your own mind about the characters and the storyline. The Spiderwick Chronicles is a great book for anyone who loves the Harry Potter books. It's full of wonderful animals and mystery.

I bought this book with a book voucher that I got from my school. I chose this book because my Dad is said he will take me to see the film. Can't wait! My favourite character was Mallory because I want to be like her.
