British Guides in Foreign Countries

British Guides in Foreign CountriesBritish Guides in Foreign Countries (BGIFC) is an important part of Girlguiding UK and has existed since 1911.

BGIFC units are formed in parts of the world where girls can't join the national guiding organisation. This might be because of the language or culture, or because there isn't an accessible unit.

BGIFC members follow the current programme for their section. Normally, British girls make up at least 50 per cent of a BGIFC unit's membership, but in some areas the membership may be 75 per cent Commonwealth nationalities.
