Don't Stop Believing

Theme(s): Flying High
Decade: 2000s
Location: Coatbridge Scotland

For the Centenary we put on a show called "Don't Stop Believing".
I think it was good to call it that because everyone I know watches Glee and that is their theme tune. When Laura told us we would be doing a show everyone was dead excited to be in it even before we knew what the story was going to be or who was going to get what parts. We all got to say what parts we wanted and then we all had to audition. It was OK though. It wasn't like the X-Factor and the Leaders weren't like Simon Cowell!

I got one of the main parts. I like doing drama at school so I have done some things like this before. I started learning my lines right away because there were lots of them to learn. We even had an extra practice before Guides started to help us learn them.

It seemed a long time between January when we got told about the show until June when the show was but it went very quickly. We had even more extra practices and everyone got really nervous. I think the show went really well. I think my Mum was crying but she said she wasn't. I don't believe her!

It was really different from the practices though because everyone was wearing costumes and we had a man to do the lights and another one who did the microphones. Laura's family helped as well and her Mum did the music and her Dad did the curtain and her brother did the slide show and the video. Somebody else's Mum did the script. You know, at the front and if you forgot the lines she whispered it to you. My costume was easy as I just had to wear a Brownie uniform and then Guide uniform. The Pirates were good and the Cowgirls as well. I liked the Designer bit the best as we got to see all the old fashioned Guide uniforms. Jillian had to wear an old uniform as well because she was supposed to be a Leader from when the Guides started. She had a really funny hat! At the end she wore a nice dress at the dance off bit. It was long and blue. Laura made her own costume-she was the baddie. She had a big black sticky out skirt. She had make up on too that made her face all white and she had purple eyes. She had all different things in her hair in the different scenes-feathery things that you wear at a wedding. I think the Brownies were a bit scared. She was really funny when she stole the uniforms off the stage and escaped on a micro scooter and we all had to chase her round the hall.

The best bit was when we all sang "Don't Stop Believing" at the end and everyone clapped for us. We got loads of bows. I think it was a good thing to do for the Centenary because a real photographer came to take our pictures and I can look at the photos and remember it.
