Adventures
The wide range of Centenary Adventures offered during our
Centenary year provided a variety of opportunities for
members of all sections to experience their mountain-top
moment.
The Centenary
Adventures were by no means an average experience – they had
all the sparkle and excitement that our members expected from
our biggest celebrations yet!
There were two types of Adventure to choose
from:
Book and Go
These were pre-organised Adventures, from days
out to international trips and challenges, each designed along the
following themes for each of the guiding groups:
Members aged 18 plus were able to take
advantage of a small range of Adult Adventures and Charity
Challenges as well as doing what they do best – putting ‘girls in
the lead’ and giving them the chance to celebrate in style!
'Our trip to India was such an amazing
experience and sums up what Girlguiding’s Centenary celebrations
have been all about – it was a huge adventure for us all and one
which we will never forget.' Bryoney, 15, Senior
Section member.
Create Your Own
Members were also encouraged to plan their own
individual adventures through the Create Your Own
concept. Whether using the themes or not, the idea of Create
Your Own was to give every member the opportunity to decide and
plan their own mountain-top moment, whatever that might have
been.
'I have done lots of firsts this year - my
first campfire, my first overnight at North Devon Centenary Camp...
It has been good this year looking at how Brownies has changed and
how much more I do than my mum but especially my granny did.'
Charlotte, 8, 9th Barnstaple Brownies.
