Centenary 2009 - 2010

Girlguiding launched its Centenary celebrations in September 2009 – and it was certainly a year to remember!

With over half a million young members aged between 5 and 25, the range of opportunities to enable all our members to have a ‘mountain-top moment’ was wide and varied. More than 130 ‘Book and Go’ events and trips were offered to members in the Centenary catalogue ‘Ways to Celebrate’.

Our adult volunteers went the extra mile and enabled so many girls and young women to push the boundaries and have their own adventures – truly putting girls in the lead.

In this part of our website you can take a look at the many ways in which we celebrated 100 years of guiding. There’s videos, photos, blogs and much more. If you have been involved in guiding at some point in your life then why not share your memories with us by adding them to the Story Bank.

Read eye-opening first-hand accounts of trips to exotic destinations in the Centenary experiences section.
